I wasn't expecting this to come packaged so nicely. If I were looking for a gift in this age range, this would make a great gift. I wanted this for our upcoming road trip.

I have looked and purchased a number of this type of busy board and this is one of the better ones out there. It is constructed of wood and has a high quality feel to it. One master switch at the bottom powers the unit on (it requires 3 AAA batteries) and then all of the other switches and dials do things, like light up and change color. The switches and dials have a really good feel and crisp 'snap' to them and the unit itself looks like a high-tech control panel, so my grandson uses it to pretend to be piloting a spaceship.

This is a sturdy, nice sized (small) wood busy board that is easy to carry around for a three year old.

This busy board has multiple things going on, and so far it has been able to keep our toddler busy at least for 10-15 min at a time. It has several switches with double function, with a light that comes along with a song that would start to play. It is somewhat big for a toddler to carry around, but still works well for us while in a car or at home. The board is well made, all edges and entire surface are very smooth. You will need a screwdriver to open the battery compartment, as well as AA batteries.
It did come in a retail box and will make a nice gift. Overall, highly recommend.
