JoyCat Word Pop CVC Word game, is a great way for students to practice reading and decoding.For beginners I would show them the picture first, then turn it over and the kid can see the word and find it on the board. If a student has a solid grasp of letters and sounds, you can show the picture and have them find the word on the pop chart. The color of the card determines where it is found on the pop board. For example, pin is on a green card and it is found in the green section of the pop-it. This game is a nice addition to my elementary special education classroom.

The kids responded really well to another cvc pop board like this, so I was happy to see and try out this game set. It did not disappoint at all, and the kids really love it. I love the idea of using the pop board when learning to read words. It helps them to use the additional sensory input while trying to sound out the words. There are a few words on this board that you cannot sound out in the traditional way (e.g. cow and toy), but most of them are easy to read phonetically. There are also a few unusual choices of words that I had to try to explain to the children (e.g. cog and dub). Most of these words, however, are great for beginning readers. The board has two sides and each side pairs with one set of cards The cards are separated into boxes and the bubble shape around the words (square or circle) shows which side of the board to use. The cards are thick and durable. The words and pictures are bright and clear, making them easy to see and read. Each card is color coded so you know which row to look at to find the word. The cards have two sides; one side is the word and one side is the picture. This gives you multiple options for play. Beginners can look at the words, read the word and find the matching word on the board. More advanced players can look at the picture and then search for the word without seeing the spelling first. This game is easy for a child to play solo, but it can also be played with multiple people. We like to mix the cards together and take turns…

My kids love fidget poppers so I thought I'd give these a try. They have a ton of CVC words for beginning readers. I love that each sound is a bubble pop so they say the sound as they push the bubble. The cards with pictures are a nice touch so you can make it a game. The fidget popper is 2 sided so there are a ton of words though I feel like the font is a little small or thin to see the words on the yellow. Maybe blue would have been a better choice of color? Regardless, I was surprised the carrying case that comes with it is so nice. It has 2 zipper pockets for storing everything and a handle to carry it. I think this will be a nice supplement to our reading.

My son is 4- and he was able to comprehend this learning tool function very quickly! The moment I took it out of the box, he was interested! He knew that the color border of the card would correspond to the color on the pop words board. We’re working on letter recognition, so that will come- but I think this tool will be a fun addition to the classroom.
