Easy way to gets kids to learn letters and words!

I got this because my daughter (kindergarten) has a standing video call with a relative and she's been trying to find ways to show off her reading and spelling skills. This makes it so easy to help her figure out how to associate words with letters. It's built in a way that allows you to focus on several different aspects - the beginning, middle and end of the words or a consonant, vowel, consonant approach. Each card is double sided, and what's cool about this is that it actually also teaches vocabulary that your kid might not have encountered, or allows them to think of other words a card might be.Example 1: There was a picture of a can and it's pointing to the metal "tab" on the top. My daughter didn't know that was called a tab since it's not a word I ever use either, so we talked about what she thought it meant (top) versus what the specific word is for that metal piece.Example 2: There was a picture of a jar of jam, but them we talked about how a jar is different from a pot versus a vat. It was fun!Anyway, this is well made, durable card stock and has already been used every day since it arrived. The little pouch makes it easy to store and organize and I think you could take this on a plane or use it for travel. Perfect for kids struggling with learning words, and helpful for learning vocabulary as well!

Nice set, could use more object cards

I got this cvc word cards for my 5 year old son to help with his reading. This activity requires parent or an older child to help direct it, but it did help my son with his reading. The set is well built, the stand is sturdy and the pockets to hold the cards on the back was a nice feature. The included instructions are helpful, as I wouldn't really know where to start otherwise. The instructions are printed on plastic, so you can roll it up and put it in the stand. There's 46 object printed on both sides of the cards, 38 letter cards, and 9 sound position cards. I do wish there were more object cards, as 46 objects isn't a lot.

SO glad I ordered this word building chart for my preschooler!

I LOVE this pocket chart! I ordered it to use with my preschooler who is learning her letters. When the chart arrived, she was so excited that she wanted to use it right away. After less than a week of using this with her, she is sounding out words on her own! She loves it because she feels like she is playing a game, and I love it because it is teaching her to read. It has been a great way to introduce her to phonemic awareness in a fun and hands-on way.The chart itself is very well constructed. Even though we have only had it a week, I can tell that it will stand up to little fingers for a long time to come. The pockets have a thick stitching on them, and the velcro is strong enough that the chart is stable when standing on its own. It is also handy that it folds up flat and has 2 separate storage pockets in the back (one for the letter cards and one for the picture cards). This is an excellent learning tool for emergent and beginning readers!

    Great way to introduce reading!

I absolutely love this word building game. I know the advertisement recommends this for 3-4 year olds, but my 2 year is already doing well with spelling and word recognition. I'm sure he's just memorizing the way the words look, so I wanted to get something to help introduce the concept of sounding out the words. I've seen similar word building exercises in several Montessori kits, but those were much more expensive, and had a lot of additional activities that my son has already mastered, so it would be a waste to pay for the whole kit if all I wanted was something like this. The construction is sturdy and there are plenty of cards to construct a variety of simple words with picture cards to help with recognition. I'm sure my son will probably bend the cards and I think perhaps laminating them might be a good idea so that they don't get bent or ripped. If you're looking for a fun way to get your kiddies reading and spelling, I think this is an excellent tool! Highly recommended!

Nice card set. Needs answers to help kids.

I got this for my grandkids who are beginning readers. The cards are large and you can work with them with consonants and vowels.
